Student Council Leadership Conference

Leadershirt

You may have noticed a lot of people running around in black shirts yesterday, well that's because Madill's Leadership Class held it's 4th annual Leadership Conference! This years theme was the Olympics, and 8 teams of 7th and 8th graders from Madill's feeder schools competed in activities and games encouraging leadership.

Participants were inspired by guest speaker Andy Thibodeau and a fun day was had by all those involved. The Leadership class would like to extend a large thank you to all the volunteers and teachers who helped make this possible, it wouldn't have happened without your support and dedication.

Food Drive Campaign Under Way

Sticky Job

Student council advisor Mrs. Duffield gets stuck with a difficult job!

The student council food drive is well underway and to keep the campaign fresh in everyone's mind students could donate for the priviledge of taping Mrs. Duffield to the wall! Tomorrow indiviuals can pay a quarter to cast a vote for who will get covered in silly string, ( or spend ¢50 and get three votes). All monies collected will be added to the food drive total. Staff and students can continue to bring in non-perishable food items until next Thursday. Remember we have been challenged by Listowel District High School... and we hate to lose !

Junior Leadership Conference at Madill

Leadership conference
Student council reps run a team building exercise!

On May 4th F. E. Madill hosted their second annual junior leadership conference entitled "Surf's Up". Grades 7's and 8's experienced a day of fun and leadership activities. Guest speaker Andy Thibodeau spoke to the 90 elementary school leaders about creating your own path in life while still taking the time to care for others. Check out Andy Thibodeau's web site for more information.

The highlight of the afternoon was the "Amazing Race"! Teams raced to complete activities such as word searches, ball toss, bench walk and many other events. The winning team went home with beach towels while every participant went home with a waterbottle filled with goodies. The day was a huge success and student council would like to thank all those that participated and helped out.

Madill Olympics

M_olympics

The Madill Olympics exploded into action today with the first event, a hockey skill competition, held at lunch in the small gym. Students showed off their hockey skills by hitting as many pop can targets as they could in one minute. A good turn out of the students was able to see Allison Quenell make it as the top female and Cory Hamilton the top male both with 8 hits! The Olympics will continue for the rest of this week with a ski biathalon event Wednesday and a polar dip on Friday!
