Junior Girls' Basketball Goes Into Overtime!

Game Plan

The junior girls' team take a moment to discuss a game plan.

The Junior Girls' Basketball team hosted the Listowel Lightning in the consolation semi-finals. The Mustangs had a tough time getting their shots to fall, but maintained a good defensive effort throughout. The team entered the fourth quarter down by 8 points, but the girls refused to give up. They clawed their way back to tie the game in the final minute, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, the shooting troubles continued, and Listowel pulled ahead for good. The final score was 43 - 37. Mr. Hanley would like to the thank the girls for a very exciting season

Congratulations go out to our junior girls for a great game.

Teams from Frome Community College, in southern England near Bristol and Bath, arrive on Thursday October 19th at Pearson Airport, (click the link a the bottom of this article to go to Frome College's homepage). The teams include boys' rugby and basketball as well as girls' soccer and basketball. In all twenty boys, thirteen girls and four staff members are making the journey.

Our guest will come to Wingham on the Thursday evening to meet their hosts families, our boys' British Tour rugby team and the girls' soccer team.

Boys Rugby Team

The boys' rugby team are among those that will host teams from England

On Friday the traveling teams will come to Madill with their hosts for a brief training session before departing on a bus for a trip to the Bruce Nuclear Plant and the adjoining Wind Farm. On the way back they will travel along the shore of the lake and if the weather permits and there is time they can go for a swim...(hmmm.... is that the day it will snow?)... or at least run around on the beach. The Ironmen have a home game scheduled for the evening so players will all meet at the North Huron Community Complex, (several Madill students are members of the Ironmen).

Saturday is game day. Boys basketball and Girls basketball games will be held in the morning followed by rugby and soccer in the afternoon. Be sure to come out to cheer on our teams and to welcome our guests from England! Post game activities include a pig roast hosted on a local farm.

Sunday our guests head back to the Toronto area for the next leg of their tour.
