F.E. Madill's Track Team Spring's Into Action

Track

Budding trees, flowering plants, green fields and F.E. Madill's Track and Field Team are all sure signs of spring!

Madill has another talented team this season looking to continue the tradition of success established by the dedicated coaching of Gary and Maureen Lisle. So far the team has been to two different meets competing well in both.

The first meet of the year was in London at Regina Mundi High School. Our athletes competed well in this large meet with over 20 schools attending. Some of the individual highlights included Ellen Gilchrist winning the Midget girls discus and shotput, Ben Dailleboust placing first in Midget boys long jump and Tyler White placing within the top three in three different events. Both the girls and boys midget relay teams burnt up the track rounding out a strong showing by our Midget team. Also of note - 15 of our athletes achieved personal bests in their respective events at this competition!

The second meet was held at St.Anne's Catholic School where our Senior Team dominated. Darby Alcorn had two first place throws in discus and shot put, as well as finishing second in javelin. A.J. Beasley placed first in the long jump, Rob Marriot won the triple jump and Adam Young won Senior Boys discus. Impressively, the team as a whole managed to rewrite our record books with 30 personal bests achieved! This should bring confidence to the team in meets leading up to Huron-Perth in Goderich. The team would like to thank all the coaches for their dedication and hard work. Keep up the great performances Madill!

Senior Boy's Rugby Team

Rugby

The Senior Boy's Team has gotten off to a good start. They are undefeated in their first 4 games, with a record of 3 wins and 1 tie. So far we have tied Port Elgin, won an exhibition game against Kincardine and won games against South Huron and Listowel in league action.

The team is continuing to improve each time on the field, and with only a handful of returning starters there are a lot of new faces in the line-up. A very promising start to the season, but much work still needs to be done before we can even think about trying to repeat the success of last years squad!
