Tie That Binds Heads To Sears Festival

Tie That Binds

A car crash that kills the wife of the main character is the beginning of a powerful drama.

The Madill Drama Guild will bring an adaptation of a radio drama by Nyla Rylski entitled "the Tie That Binds" to the Sears Festival tomorrow in Listowel. The play traces a complex narrative following a car crash that kills the wife of the lead character, Alan Hart, played by George Rideout. Hart awakes after the crash to find himself in a mental institute. The audience finds itself questioning whether the character is truly insane or whether he has been driven to madness.

Tie That Binds

The character of the doctor braces after an attack from mental patient Alan Hart.

The cast and crew will perform the play in Listowel Friday, March 2 at 3:30 PM. Tickets are $10 at the door. Following the festival the drama guild has plans to stage this production at Madill at a date to be announce later. In the meantime we wish them luck!

Québec.... Je Me Souviens!

Skier

A lone Madill skier against the hills of Québec

Last week French students from Madill were able to immerse themselves in the "joie de vivre" of Québec culture. The time passed quickly with skiing and French workshops during the day and socializing "en français" in the evening.... ça c'est bon!

Our Rugby Team Is Ready For The UK!

Last Year's Rugby Team

No "porky pies"... last year's senior team together with a few junior team members will be in the UK next week to play some rugby and have a "butcher's" at the local scenery.... for a translation check out Cockney rhyming slang on Wikipedia here.

Next Tuesday, March 6, 34 members of the boys rugby program leave for a 13 day tour of the UK. Stops include Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland; North Ferriby, Rugby, Oxford and Brixham in England; and last but definitely not least, Cardiff and Bargoed in South Wales. The team will be participating in 4 "friendly" rugby matches with Trinity Academy, South Hunsley School, Churston Ferrers School, and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni. Several highlights of the tour include attending the Six Nations rugby match between Ireland and Scotland being held at Murrayfield Stadium and spending time in the home town of William Webb Ellis, Rugby, where the game was first played.

Questions

Madill's "Reach for the Top" team had a very successful tournament last Thursday with impressive wins over 4 opposing teams. Their performance leaves the team tied for first place in the region with number of games won and first overall in points scored. Well done!
