OFSAA Track Results

Steeplechase

Derek Sanderson competes in the steeplechase.

The 18 members of the Track and Field Team who attended the OFSAA West Regional Meet in Windsor on June 1st and 2nd rose to the challenge of the high level of competition admirably. The meet was attended by the top 5 finishers in each event from WOSSAA, CWOSSAA, and SWOSSAA. The top four places at this meet earned the right to compete at OFSAA. Cole Pellett qualified to advance to OFSAA with his third place finish in the midget boys’ triple jump (12.26m). He also performed well in the long jump finishing 6th with a jump of 5.70m.

Long Jump

Cole Pellett competes in the long jump.

Jodi Eadie also advanced based on her personal best discus throw of 26.82m which earned her a fourth place in the midget girls’ category. In the junior girls’ age group, Heather deBoer earned a sixth in shot put with a personal best throw of 9.50m and was edged out of going to OFSAA by a mere 8cm finishing fifth in the discus with a throw of 26.44m. Ieshon Morris also narrowly missed advancing finishing fifth in the ambulatory 100m event in a time of 15.66s.

Hurdles

A. J. Beasley competes in the hurdles.

The award for missing the trip to the provincial competition by the narrowest margin goes to A.J. Beasley who ran the senior boys’ 400m hurdles in a personal best time of 57.32s to earn fifth place. The fourth place finisher in that event, who advances, finished 1/100th of a second ahead of A.J. Congratulations to all of the athletes who attended the meet on their excellent performances.
