Madill Track Team Excels

Madill Track Team

Trevor Stacey, John McDowell and Chris Corbett in the senior boys 200 m.

55 members of the F.E. Madill Track and Field team traveled to St. Anne's in Clinton to compete in the Huron-Perth Championships on May 15th and 16th. The team performed extremely well and captured the Senior Boys and Senior Girls titles and finished second only to St. Anne's in total team points. Cole Pellett set a new Huron-Perth record in the midget boys triple jump with a distance of 11.45m. Trevor Stacey and Derek Sanderson tied for first runner up in the Individual Senior Boys Competition with two firsts and a second each. A.J. Beasley was close behind with two firsts and a third.

The vast majority of the team had a personal best performance in at least one of their events. Approximately 45 of the team members have qualified to advance to WOSSAA and are preparing for that event which will take place at the University of Western Ontario on Wednesday and Thursday May 23rd and 24th.

Special Olympics Torch Run

The Special Olympics Torch Run celebrated its 20th anniversary!

Madill's special education class took part in the Special Olympics Torch Run this Wednesday. The event raisees money for the Special Olympics and is run in conjunction with the O.P.P. and local law enforcement.

Horse Club Enjoys A Day Of Riding

The horse club lines up!

This Monday the Madill horse club go together with their counterparts from Listowel District Secondary School at King-Lyn stables in Monkton. Students went through the basics of haltering, grooming and tacking up. Club members include Ursina Studhalter, Jessica Machan, Jolene van Meeteren, Jocelyn Huber and Alysson Vander Veen. Teacher advisors are Ms. Finch and Ms. McKague.

South Huron rugby teams at Madill: Senior boys team dismissed at 12:15 PM, girls' team dismissed at 1:20 PM and junior boys dismissed at 2:15 PM.
Senior boys and girls soccer to LDSS all day.
Junior and senior concert bands to Howick and Grey Central public schools to perform- away all day.

TUESDAY, MAY 15/ 07

Grade 12 drama class presentation to Turnberry Public School during period 2 in the drama room.
Track and field team at Huron-Perth in Clinton bus leaves at 11:45 AM - returning at 6:30 PM.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16/ 07

London Cup rugby- senior boys and girls teams away all day.
Track and field team at Huron-Perth in Clinton- bus leaves at 7 AM returning at 5:30PM.
Art and photography club meeting in the art room at lunchtime.

THURSDAY, MAY 17/ 07

USSR period 3.
Grade 11 and 12 assembly period 1 and 2.
London Cup rugby for junior boys- team away all day.
Junior girls and boys soccer to GDCI- bus departs at 7:45 AM.
Huron Perth senior soccer tournament.

FRIDAY, MAY 18/ 07

Prefect trip to Kitchener/Waterloo: 8:40 AM - 3 PM.
BYOB, (Bring Your Own Banana) sundaes in the cafeteria at lunchtime- sponsored by OSAID.
Mitchell rugby at Madill: Senior boys team dismissed at 12:15 PM, girls team dismissed at 1:20 PM and the junior boys team dismissed at 2:15 PM.
Grade 10 music class and Jazz band to perform at Sacred Heart in the afternoon
