Imago Teaches The Art Of Storytelling

Pitching an Idea

Two Madill students start their day by "pitching" their film idea to the Imago team.

April 26th, 27th and 28th five Madill students learned first hand what it's like to create films which tell compelling stories from individuals that work in the industry. The Imago Film Festival is held each spring at Central Huron Secondary School, inviting students from across Ontario to learn the art of film making.

Documenting the Process

Sean gets footage for his group's documentary of the Imago process.

At this fifth Imago Festival the focus was on getting back to the basics of film making- story telling. Each of the four groups had a specific task. Two groups worked to develop different story lines with still images while another group created the sound tracks and the last group documented the entire process.

Madill Student Honoured At Ceremony

Aaron Richmond and Mr. H. Carnegie

Aaron receives congratulations from Mr. Carnegie

Last Friday evening in Toronto, one of our Madill students, Aaron Richmond, received a scholarship from the Future Aces Foundation, presented by Herb Carnegie. Mr. Carneige, now age 87, was a star hockey player in the 1940's.

As a semi-professional hockey player with the Sherbrooke Saints, Mr. Carnegie was three times voted the most valuable player. His ambition to become a professional player was not to be fulfilled, as the unwritten code of the National Hockey League denied Mr. Carnegie a try-out in the NHL because of his race.

Due to this discrimination, Mr. Carnegie devoted his life to activating change in communities for all young people. He was the founder of the first hockey school in Canada, and continues to sponsor many leadership events. Aaron received this award based on his contribution to his community, school involvement and academics. Congratulations Aaron, from everyone here at Madill!
