Madill Track Members Travel To WOSSA

The Madill Track and Field Team traveled to the University of Western Ontario in London to compete in WOSSAA on May 23 and 24. There were many outstanding performances by the team. Cole Pellett broke a Madill record in the Midget Boys’ Triple Jump that had stood for 27 years on his way to winning the gold medal in the event. He also won gold in the Midget Boys’ long jump. Jodi Eadie won gold in the Midget Girls’ Discus.

Heather deBoer won silver medals in both the Junior Girls Discus and Shot Put and Erin Gilchrist won the bronze medal in the Junior Girls Shot Put. A.J. Beasley won bronze in the 400m hurdles. He also won bronze along with Rob Marriott, Chris Corbett and Trevor Stacey in the senior boys 4 x 100m relay. Altogether, 18 Madill athletes finished with at least one top 5 performance and therefore qualified to advance to the OFSAA West Regional Competition to be held in Windsor on June 1st and 2nd. Even more team members recorded personal best performances and the whole team performed well.
