Girls' Hockey News
The Madill Girls hockey team started the season on a high note celebrating a win during their home opener on Monday November 8th. The lady mustangs defeated St. Anne's 7-0 with goals scored by K. Whitfield from M. Cameron, Kuik from K. Alton, Quennel from Kuik, VanderVeen from Schiestel, Kuik from Heffer, Kuik from Freiburger, and VanderVeen from Scheistel and Heffer. Wheeler posted the shutout.
The following week the girls hosted G.D.C.I and Listowel D.S.S. adding another two wins to the season. The G.D.C.I. matchup ended 6-1 with goals scored by Freiburger from Kuik, K. McArter from Freiburger, Donaldson from Dickson, Quennel from Kuik, Quennel from Freiburger and Cameron, and K. Alton from Freiburger. The win went to Adamson. The Listowel game ended 5-0 in favour of Madill with goals scored by Cameron from Freiburger, Quennel unassisted, M. Alton from Aitchison, VanderVeen from Donaldson and Quennel, and Cameron from Quennel. Shutout win going to Wheeler.
On November 24th, the team traveled to Stratford to face St. Mike's and Stratford Central. In the first game St.Mike’s handed us our first loss of the year defeating Madill 3-1. The lone Madill goal coming from Marlee Alton. The second game was against Stratford Central. This game saw Madill defeat Stratford Central by a score of 6-0. Goals were scored by Whitfield unassisted, Heffer from Whitfield, Aitchison assisted by Dickson, Freiburger from Cameron, Kuik from Aitchison and Whitfield unassisted.
Madill travelled to Clinton on November 29 to face CHSS and St. Anne’s. The score of the CHSS matchup had Madill defeating CHSS by a score of 5- 0. Scoring for this game were Freiburger from Whitfield, VanderVeen assisted by Peters, M. Alton from Donaldson and Dickson, Heffer assisted by VanderVeen and Schiestel and Vanderveen from Heffer. Adamson had the shutout. The second game saw Madill beat St. Anne’s by a score of 7- 0. Goals were scored by Cameron assisted by Kuik, Freiburger from Kuik, Whitfield unassisted, Cameron from Kuik, Kuik assisted by Cameron and Freiburger, Kuik unassisted, and Dickson from Donaldson. Shutout went to Wheeler.
