Monday

  • 11:30 - Mr. V's office hour

Tuesday

  • 7:15am - Senior Band
  • 11:45am - Intermediate Band

Wednesday

  • 7:15am - Jazz Ensemble
  • 11:45am - Christmas Gigs Ensemble

Thursday

  • 7:15am - Senior Band
  • 11:45am - Intermediate Band

Friday

  • 7:15am - Jazz Ensemble
  • 12:00pm - Percussion Ensemble first meeting.  All interested students, please come to this meeting!

Saturday

  • 9:30am - Senior Band meets in music room to setup for Santa Claus Parade

 

Announcements

  1. First of all, I would like to express my most sincere congratulations to all our young musicians who participated in this past week's performances at Huron Musicfest in Clinton on Thursday evening as well as the Salvation Army in Wingham on Friday afternoon.  I received many compliments for BOTH performances and am very proud of you for doing such a great job at both events!  Pictures will be avaialable soon.
  2. Hopefully everyone has now heard about our annual Poinsettia Fundraising Campaign having started last week.  This is our big fundraiser of the year in which students can earn money for themselves to help pay for upcoming trips, bus fees, ticket entry costs, etc.  We do everything we can to ensure that no student feels they cannot attend due to financial reasons.  Please help support our young musicians by purchasing some poinsettias from them.  All orders are due to be handed in on Thursday, December 1st by 12:00pm.
  3. The Wingham Santa Claus Parade takes place this Saturday morning. down main St. Wingham.  The Senior Band will be performing and helping spread holiday cheer during this great annual parade!  Come on out to sing along and support the Wingham community!
  4. Our December Music Night is on December 8th and this year we are pairing it with a hairstyling fashion show!  Please buy a ticket from one of our band members or purchase a ticket from the front office of the school.
  5. As you can see from our calendar (link to the right), we have several upcoming Elementary School Performance Days with various groups participating on each day.  Not every group will be performing on each day, but you should be prepared to attend all three days just in case.  Band members, please keep your teachers informed about your absence schedule from classes so that you can stay on track during these times.
  6. We obviously have an incredibly busy performance schedule between now and the Christmas break.  Please keep practicing and working on your parts so that we can make the most of our upcoming gigs!

    For those who are familiar with the man’s work, The Lady Killer is hardly about to change your perspective of what Cee Lo’s capable of. His range is extensive, his ingenuity is plentiful, and his creativity is outstanding. With a soulful R&B/motown sound to the album coupled with his incredible vocal range make this one of my favourite albums in the past year by far! For those of you who have not yet heard the name Cee Lo Green, he is the fantastic voice behind the "Gnarles Barkley" name of a few years ago with the single "Crazy".

    Lenny Kravitz: Greatest Hits
    More prolific than D'Angelo and Terence Trent D'Arby combined, one-man rock & soul revivalist Lenny Kravitz kept traditional pop values alive through much of the '90s. From the Motown-perfect "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" to the Beatlesesque "Let Love Rule," Kravitz has always inhabited his influences with a genuine spirit that transcends imitation. The 15 tracks found here provide a surprisingly coherent reminder of just how much the artist has accomplished in a relatively short time. And even if his biggest hit, "Are You Gonna Go My Way," falls short of its Hendrix target, Kravitz's cover of the Guess Who's "American Woman" still rocks in a hard-hitting way.

    If you like the sound of the bass guitar, you need to check out this album! These three bass players are among the top contemporary, rock, funk, blues and fusion bass-guitarists. They seamlessly mix their, soul and passion for their music with their outstanding technical skill and proficiency!

  • Chris Cornell -

    Chris Cornell: Carry On
    This singer has always impressed me. From his first incarnations with Soundgarden through his Audioslave days, and now with his first solo album since 1999, he retains the energy and presence he always had and has added an incredible songwriting ability (not to dismiss the soundgarden days!). Of particular note is his cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat it", but with acoustic guitar and aching vocal lines! This is truly a great album!

    Mika: Life in Cartoon Motion
    One of the very few pop albums I actually enjoy listening to. Mika's sound is wholeheartedly uplifting on this album and you can't help but feel energized when listening.

  • Radiohead -

    Radiohead: OK Computer
    One of my favourite albums of all time. This record captures the band in the midst of their transition between their well-established rock sound and their emerging experimentalism with electronics and synthesizers. This is an incredible album to listen to.

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn -

    Stevie Ray Vaughn: Texas Flood



    Blues music suddenly became cool again when Stevie Ray Vaughn came out with this album in 1983. Recommedation for the month of November.
