Announcements

1. All band members should make sure  they have submitted their "Ongoing Field Trip Permission Form" by this week.  If you're not sure if you have submitted it, come ask and I'll let you know.
2. There are smaller size band shirts on the way for those of you who need a smaller size.  They are currently being made up and should be here soon.
3. On Thursday, November 10th, the Senior Band will be performing for the school's Remembrance Day assembly.  Please make sure you are practicing your parts for this performance.
4. On Thursday, November 17th, the Intermediate Band and Senior Band will be participating in one of the highlights of the performance year, Huron Musicfest... often affectionately referred to as MASSED BAND!  Mark your calendar!  There will be more details on the way later this week for this fantastic evening concert!
5. The Percussion Ensemble will be starting up very soon.  Any students interested in joining the Percussion Ensemble should speak to me or send me a quick email to let me know.

Announcements

1. A BIG thank you to all members of the Senior Band who performed at Friday evening's Commencement ceremonies!  I received numerous compliments and congratulations for the band sounding as spectacular as it did!
2. This week is a regular rehearsal schedule week.  Our next performance involves both the Senior AND Intermediate Bands.  It takes place on Thursday, November 17th at CHSS... our annual Huron Musicfest!  Make sure it's marked on your calendars!  If there are any conflicts with this date, please see me within the week.

Commencement - Friday, October 21st, 2011

This year's Commencement Ceremony takes place on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at 8:00pm in the big gym at Madill.  It is a very important ceremony for our graduating students and one in which we should all be proud to participate as a member of the band.

 

Below is the itinerary for the evening:

7:00pm - Arrive to the music room

7:15pm - Begin tuning and rehearsal

7:45pm - Form up in performance positions

7:55pm - Begin musical prelude

8:00pm - Commencement begins

9:30pm - (approximate ending time) Move gear back to music room and clean up.

Dismissal once clean-up is complete

 

Band Members:

• Full concert attire is expected.  Please make sure you have BLACK shoes and socks and BLACK dress pants or skirt to go along with your band shirt.
• Pants and skirts must be full-length.
• Please do not be late for the warm-up and tuning session.  It is rude to the rest of the band to be showing up late.
• Please bring a water bottle to the performance.  We will be doing some waiting between pieces and we don't want people getting up and down several times throughout the ceremony.
• This is our first public performance of the school year!  Let's make it a great one! :D

Announcements

1. We have arrived at our first performance week!  The Senior Band will contribute to the Commencement ceremonies taking place on Friday evening in the big gym at Madill.  There will be a more detailed posting and schedule for Commencement early in the week.
2. Any Senior Band members who do not have a band shirt, please bring in your $25 for Tuesday morning's rehearsal.  Also, any band members who are not sure if their uniform parts are appropriate for performance are asked to bring in the articles of clothing in question.  Proper concert attire is full black.  This means black shoes, pants or long skirt, and band shirt.

My apologies for the last-minute notice as well as for those people to whom this posting does NOT apply... but there will be no Jazz Ensemble rehearsal tomorrow (Friday) morning. Please spread the word to all members of the Jazz Ensemble that you can. Fire out those texts! :)

Announcements

1. If there are any people who wish to make a last-minute order for a black leather-bound folder, please let me know by Wednesday of this week.  The store said they can add a few more orders to the original as long as they find out about it by the end of the business day on Wednesday.
2. Senior Band members, a detailed itinerary will be posted this week for the Commencement Ceremony next Friday evening.  Full Concert attire is expected.  If you're not sure whether or not your uniform parts are appropriate, please bring them in for inspection.

Here are some pictures of the leather music folders that we are ordering.  It will be custom gold-embossed with your name and your instrument on the upper right-hand corner.  This is a high-quality leather folder perfect for storing your music and it even comes with a pencil-holder (no more excuses!)    :)

If you're interested in purchasing one for yourself, please let me know by Tuesday October 12th and bring in your $30 as soon as possible.  If writing a cheque, they can be made payable to "F. E. Madill S. S."

Announcements

1. Senior Band, our first performance of the year is for Commencement on Friday, October 21st at the school.  Timings will be available next week but please be prepared to be at the school as early as 6:00pm and done at approximately 9:30pm.
2. We will be making a new order for high-quality black leather folders for those students interested in purchasing one.  They will have your name and instrument embossed in gold lettering on the front with the school's name.  This is an excellent way to organize your music as well as to have a memento throughout and after your high school music career.  The cost for these folders is $30.  Please let me know if you are interested in ordering one.
3. Last week, all band members should have received the Madill Music introductory letter with the attached "Ongoing Permission Form" and contat information to be filled out and returned.  If you have not yet returned this form, or have not yet received it, please make sure to pick it up, fill it out and return it by this week.
